Solar-Powered Buildings
How can we design a home, school or public building that meets most of its energy needs using solar energy?
A national school challenge, a research poster challenge, and an academic team challenge - each inviting a different kind of builder into the renewable energy transition
Igniting the Next Generation of Energy Innovators
REGen (Renewable Energy Generation) & Innovation drives collaboration by connecting academia, researchers, students, industry, and innovators to showcase cutting-edge research and accelerate the transition of promising concepts into scalable industrial solutions. It will provide a space for researchers and young innovators to present their ideas, prototypes, and emerging technologies, while enabling industry to identify, adopt, and co-develop solutions with commercial potential. Through stronger academia–industry linkages, technology demonstrations and knowledge exchange, REGen aims to nurture the next generation of energy innovators and contribute to shaping India’s clean energy future.
The three challenges:
Every track is built around renewable energy and its associated fields, tailored to different types of participants, from school teams to national research institutions.
School 3D Model Challenge on Renewable Energy
Encourage school students to develop innovative solutions to renewable energy challenges.
Promote application-oriented learning in renewable energy and its applications.
Provide national exposure and recognition to young innovators.
Showcase promising student innovations through MNRE’s RE Experience Centre.
Students from Classes 9–12, participating in teams of up to 2 students, with one teacher mentor.
Interested schools may submit their Expression of Interest along with the required documents on bresummit.yeic2026@gmail.com. For more details, please download the Instruction Manual.

How can we design a home, school or public building that meets most of its energy needs using solar energy?
How can renewable energy be made available when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing?
How can a village meet its electricity and productive energy needs using locally available renewable resources?
How can renewable energy make farming more productive, affordable and sustainable?
How can India’s future transport systems be powered using clean and renewable energy?
How can renewable electricity be used to produce, store and use green hydrogen safely and effectively?
How can locally generated waste be converted into useful clean energy?
What can we do with solar panels, batteries and wind-energy components when they reach the end of their useful life?
How can a smart electricity network manage large amounts of solar and wind while maintaining reliable electricity supply?
Design a 3D model of a clean-energy community of 2047 that integrates multiple renewable energy technologies to meet its energy needs sustainably.
National Call for Proposals: Teams submit a brief proposal describing the problem, proposed solution, working principle, and model design, along with a 2-minute video pitch.
The Jury will evaluate proposals on innovation, scientific merit, relevance, applicability, and feasibility. The Top 50 teams will receive free entry and dedicated space to exhibit their models at BRE Summit & Expo 2026.
Exhibition and Jury Evaluation: An expert Jury comprising representatives from government, academia, research, and industry will evaluate the 50 models during the exhibition.
Top 10 and Top 3: The Top 10 models will receive higher cash awards and be selected for display at the MNRE RE Experience Centre. The Top 3 will receive the First, Second, and Third Prizes.
