Green Hydrogen represents the next phase of India's clean energy journey and has the potential to transform sectors that are difficult to decarbonise through renewable electricity alone. Industries such as steel, fertilisers, refining, chemicals, shipping and heavy transport are expected to play a central role in the future hydrogen economy.
Recognising this opportunity, the Government of India launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission to position the country as a global hub for the production, utilisation and export of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. The Mission targets an annual production capacity of 5 million metric tonnes of Green Hydrogen by 2030, supported by approximately 125 GW of additional renewable energy capacity.
The Mission is creating an integrated ecosystem that spans renewable energy generation, electrolyser manufacturing, research and development, pilot projects, infrastructure development and industrial adoption. Beyond decarbonisation, Green Hydrogen is expected to strengthen energy independence, create new industries and jobs, expand manufacturing capabilities and position India as a key participant in emerging global clean energy supply chains.
Alongside Green Hydrogen, increasing attention is being directed towards emerging fuels and derivatives such as green ammonia and sustainable fuels that can support low-carbon industrial growth and international trade.
Held alongside the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH), BRE Summit 2026 will bring together governments, industry leaders, technology providers, researchers and investors to explore the technologies, partnerships and investments shaping the future hydrogen economy.
