T.R. Kishor Nair

T.R. Kishor Nair is a veteran of the energy sector, with nearly four decades of extensive experience in business development, project management, and strategic planning for domestic and international energy projects.

As one of Avaada’s early members, Mr. Nair has been associated with the Avaada Group since its inception. He currently serves as the CEO of Avaada Energy, the renewable energy arm of the group. Under his leadership, Avaada Energy has grown significantly, achieving an operational capacity of over 4 GW in just over five years. With an additional 6 GW of projects under implementation, the company is positioned to pursue its targets of 11 GW by 2026 and 30 GW by 2030.

Mr. Nair’s expertise has played a significant role in policy advocacy and in representing industry concerns before State and Central Governments in the renewable energy sector. He has also represented the industry through international business delegations and as a speaker at numerous domestic and international forums. He regularly participates in industry platforms including CII, FICCI, and SPDA. He has also served as Co-Chair of the Renewable Energy Council of ASSOCHAM and Co-Chair of the FICCI Renewable Energy Developers Task Force.

Prior to joining the Avaada Group, Mr. Nair held leadership roles in major infrastructure projects with organisations including NTPC, Bechtel, Reliance, and Welspun Energy. At Reliance Power, he provided strong leadership to the EPC division, contributing to the bidding and execution of major power projects, including Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPPs), on a turnkey basis. These projects established new benchmarks in the power industry for cost efficiency and fast-track execution.

During his tenure with Bechtel, Mr. Nair gained significant international project management experience across diverse business lines, including power, mining and metals, and petrochemicals. He began his professional career with NTPC in 1984, where he was involved in the project management of coal- and gas-based thermal power projects, as well as EHV and HVDC transmission lines.

Mr. Nair is widely recognised for his diverse experience in the power and renewable energy sectors, with expertise spanning the development and execution of complex infrastructure projects, from supercritical power plants to mega and Ultra Mega Power Projects, often delivered under challenging timelines and environmental constraints.
