Bio
Shri Vilas Shinde is the Chairman and Managing Director of Sahyadri Farms, India’s largest farmer-owned horticulture enterprise. He holds a post-graduate degree in agriculture from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri, and has been awarded an honorary D.Sc. by the university. After farming full-time between 1995 and 2004, he founded Sahyadri in 2010 with ₹1 lakh and about 100 farmers.
Today, Sahyadri farms has engaged over 30,000 farmers across 53,000+ acres. It is India’s largest exporter of table grapes and a major player in processed fruit and vegetable products, exporting to over 40 countries. Shri Shinde has promoted 48 additional farmer producer companies and sits on the state-level committee overseeing the Farmer Cup initiative. He was honoured with the Majha Sanman award in 2022.
