Dr. Sangita Kasture is currently working as Scientist ‘G’ / Adviser in Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India and Heading Biomanufacturing Directorate for various thematic areas, such as, Carbon Capture Utilization; Climate Resilient Agriculture; Biomanufacturing Hubs, Bio AI Hubs & Biofoundries along with other key programmes of DBT towards climate change mitigation and sustainability.
Formerly, she was working as Scientist ‘G’ / Adviser in Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and Heading of National Bioenergy Program, Small Hydro Power Program, R&D and HRD Divisions, promoting industrial projects, innovations and skill development in RE Sector. More than 200 Industrial Bioenergy projects were executed during her tenure at MNRE. She was also holding additional charge as Director General of two Autonomous Institutes of MNRE, namely NISE, Gurgaon and SSS-NIBE, Kapurthala.
Earlier in Department of Biotechnology, she headed the Energy and Environment Division, where she drove innovations in Bioenergy, Environmental Biotechnology, and Forest Biotechnology, crucial for climate change mitigation and circular economy initiatives. She has been integral to the Multilateral Mission Innovation program, shaping national R&D strategies in clean energy through inter-Ministerial consultation. She played key role in conceptualizing and launching global mission, ‘Integrated Bioenergy Mission’ and ‘Sustainable Aviation Fuel’, a global platform to accelerate multinational collaboration.
