Prashant K. Banerjee

Mr. Prashant K. Banerjee is Group Head – Corporate & Government Affairs at Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He is an IIT Bombay alumnus and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), with over 36 years of experience in automotive engineering, engine design, vehicle platform development, regulatory compliance and international policy formulation. He superannuated as Executive Director of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on 31 July 2026. Earlier he held key engineering leadership roles at Tata Motors, Daewoo Motors, DCM Toyota and IIT Bombay, serving as Chief Engineer on two major car programmes and delivering India’s first OEM-certified CNG and LPG vehicle programmes. He has authored over 30 national and international technical papers. On the global stage, he represented India at UNECE for over 20 years and chairs India’s GRSG, which covers vehicle construction and LNG/CNG/hydrogen safety. He is a member of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s National Green Hydrogen Safety Panel, co-chairs the Indo-US Industry Task Force on Hydrogen, and serves on the CSIR research councils of CMERI Durgapur and IIP Dehradun. He also represents the Indian automotive industry on bodies including BIS-TEDC, the CMVR Technical Standing Committee and the OICA Technical Committee. The Government of Brazil conferred the Order of Rio Branco on him for his contribution to bioenergy.
