Bio
Prabodha Acharya is a transformative sustainability leader whose career reflects a deep belief that business has the power—and responsibility—to shape a more resilient and equitable world. With over thirty years of impact across continents, industries, and cultures, he has emerged as one of India’s most respected champions of environmental stewardship, climate action, and sustainable business transformation.
As the Group Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) at JSW Group, Prabodha leads with a vision that goes far beyond compliance or reporting. His work centers on inspiring businesses to see sustainability not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to innovate, create long-term value, and redefine what responsible growth looks like for millions of people. Through his leadership, JSW’s diverse businesses—spanning steel, energy, cement, infrastructure, and paints—are steadily integrating sustainability into the heart of strategy, culture, and operations.
Prabodha’s career has been built on a powerful conviction: that meaningful change happens when people, systems, and purpose come together. From his early years working in environmental management, to his global roles driving climate strategy and assurance, he has consistently helped organizations navigate complexity while staying anchored to the larger goal of protecting the planet and empowering communities.
Recognized as one of the most impactful sustainability leaders, Prabodha has been awarded honors such as the Best Sustainability Officer (SEEM National Sustainability Awards 2023), awarded as one of the most impactful sustainability leader by the World Sustainability and was inducted into the Board Stewardship Hall of Fame at the India Board Conclave 2025 for his visionary leadership and transformative contributions.
Beyond his operational leadership, he actively contributes to global sustainability governance. Prabodha serves on committees and councils of institutions such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Worldsteel, CII, FICCI, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Stakeholder Council, etc. offering thought leadership on climate action, ESG integration, and resilient business models.
Prabodha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Hons.) from IGIT, Utkal University, an M.Tech in Environmental Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, and has completed an advanced Strategic Leadership program at Brown University, USA. But beyond credentials, he brings something far more powerful: a belief that sustainability is not just a function—it is a movement. A movement that requires courage, imagination, integrity, and a willingness to build a better future than the one we inherited.
