Bio

Mani Khurana is a Senior Energy Specialist with the World Bank Group, where she leads and supports strategic engagements at the intersection of energy transition, sustainable infrastructure and climate finance. With around two decades of experience across policy, finance, infrastructure, and market development, she works with governments, financial institutions, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions and mobilize investment for sustainable growth.

Mani currently leads and advises on a diverse portfolio spanning renewable energy, distributed solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid modernization, offshore wind, electric mobility, and innovative financing mechanisms to catalyze private capital. More recently, she has been actively engaged in supporting India's critical minerals agenda, including value-chain development, investment mobilization, international partnerships, and strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience for clean energy technologies.

Over her career, she has played a leading role in designing and implementing complex World Bank operations and technical assistance programs focused on power sector reform, utility performance improvement, utility financial sustainability, distributed renewable energy, and climate-resilient infrastructure. She has also worked extensively on mobilizing public and private finance to support clean energy deployment and strengthen the enabling environment for long-term infrastructure investment.

Among her recent achievements, Mani has supported the World Bank Group's engagement with India's rapidly expanding rooftop solar market, including initiatives aligned with the PM Surya Ghar program; advanced policy and financing discussions on battery energy storage and offshore wind development; contributed to emerging work on critical minerals and resilient supply chains; and helped shape high-level dialogues on energy transition finance, sustainable digital infrastructure, and industrial decarbonization.

Mani holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business and a Master's degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. She is passionate about building partnerships that bring together public policy, development finance, and private capital to drive impactful and scalable solutions for the energy transition.
