Gyan Prakash Upadhyaya

Gyan Prakash Upadhyaya is a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1987 Sikkim cadre, with 37 years of experience in public administration, governance, and policy development. He currently serves as Director General of the Electric Power Transmission Association in New Delhi, leading policy and regulatory advocacy for the power transmission sector and supporting India’s energy transition and 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030. Previously, he held several senior positions in the Government of Sikkim, including Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary, contributing to education reforms, social welfare, and public service delivery. He also served as Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), promoting international trade and business engagement. He holds a B.Tech. from IIT Roorkee, an M.Tech. from IIT Delhi, and a Master of Public Management in Public Policy Analysis from the National University of Singapore and Harvard Kennedy School.
