Dr. Rajneesh Kumar
Associate Professor - Department of EEE BITS Pilani
Bio
Professor Rajneesh Kumar received the B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from BCE, Bhagalpur in 1998 and M. Tech and PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan in 2000 and 2009 respectively. He joined BITS, Pilani as a lecturer in year 2000 and currently serving as an Associate Professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering department.
His PhD work focused on developing new soft-switched converter topologies for UPS applications. He has developed more than ten new high gain Boost/Buck converters for renewable energy applications, specifically for PV interface. He has developed a new soiling factor to predict the performance of a PV panel under soiling in Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, leading to high impact journal publications over the years.
He has successfully developed a lab prototype for small scale Green Hydrogen generation unit with indigenously designed converter and carbon cloth based electrodes. Currently he is working on the design of a new micro-inverter topology with embedded secure communication for grid connections. His future plan is to integrate the expertise of power electronics and hydrogen generation to conceptualize a novel Agri-PV system for Food Energy and Water (FEW) security for remote villages of India.
He has more than fifty international journal and conference publications. He has successfully completed several externally funded projects developing high gain converters, converting carbon black to carbon nano tubes (CNTs), hydrogen generating unit, a new model for power prediction of a PV panel under soiling etc. He has guided several B.Tech., MTech. and Ph.D. theses.
He is currently serving as an editorial board member of the Nature publication journal Scientific Reports.
