Dr. Rajesh Katyal

Dr. Rajesh Katyal is the Director General of the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), Chennai, India's apex technical body for wind under MNRE, and he also leads its offshore wind work. He became DG in July 2023 after serving as Deputy DG. His expertise is wind resource assessment and wind variability analysis, backed by over 32 years of experience, service on the technical committees for the Indian Wind Atlas and the Grid Code for Wind Energy, and a role in setting up India's first offshore LiDAR structure. He is a key technical authority on India's onshore and offshore wind potential, with additional focus on grid integration and wind forecasting.
