Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty

Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty is a senior finance and power-sector professional with over 27 years of experience across the Power and Renewable Energy value chain, with professional experience in IREDA, REC, CESCO and GRIDCO. He has extensive and diverse experience spanning finance, accounts, treasury, project appraisal, project execution and management, commercial operations, legal functions, resource mobilisation, corporate governance and strategic planning, with a demonstrated track record of delivering high-impact institutional outcomes.

He is presently serving as Director (Finance) & CFO, IREDA Limited, and is holding the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA Limited.

During his tenure at IREDA, he played a key role in driving its transformative growth, with the loan book expanding from ~₹47,000 crore to over ₹95,000 crore, alongside record sanctions and disbursements. He also contributed significantly to strengthening IREDA’s profitability, capital base and market standing, including its IPO, QIP, AAA rating and Navratna status.

During his tenure at REC, he has led the implementation of flagship Government schemes, including DDUGJY and Saubhagya, across Odisha, West Bengal and the North-Eastern States, contributing to 24×7 power supply and last-mile connectivity. Through these initiatives, he has facilitated electrification of over 25,000 villages and provided electricity access to more than 27 lakh households across the region.

He has received several prestigious recognitions, including the CSR Lifetime Achievement Award 2026, presented by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, along with professional recognitions from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India for his contribution to financial leadership and governance.

He has authored articles in national and international journals on power, renewable energy, rural electrification and energy efficiency, reflecting his commitment to India’s clean-energy transition.
