Devendra Gupta

Devendra Gupta is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ecozen, a climate-smart deeptech company building a decentralised energy platform rooted in a conviction: technology must be made for Bharat and accessible to Bharat. An IIT Kharagpur alumnus, he leads the company’s product management, strategy and finance.

At the heart of Devendra’s approach is a restlessness to close the distance between what technology can make possible and what people can access. He believes India’s energy needs deserve original engineering, shaped from the outset by local conditions, everyday aspirations and affordability. This conviction drives Ecozen’s push beyond second-hand technology—solutions developed for other markets and subsequently adapted for India.

Under his leadership, Ecozen has built deep in-house capabilities across power electronics, inverter architecture, firmware and connected intelligence. Its teams work directly with users, taking lessons from installations back into product development. This proximity to people informs how the company improves performance, removes unnecessary complexity and makes its technology more affordable.

That philosophy connects Ecozen’s journey from Ecotron solar pump controllers and Ecofrost solar cold storage to rooftop solar, inverters and smart cooling. For Devendra, each advancement must translate into something meaningful: timely irrigation, a protected harvest, a home generating its own electricity or comfort within a family’s budget.

An Unreasonable Fellow and a Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst recognised in 2022, Devendra brings together experience in the agricultural value chain and an ambition to expand the possibilities of decentralised energy.

His focus is on enabling more people to generate, manage and use energy with greater independence. He sees success in the pride of people meeting their own energy needs—and in how many more can afford to do so. That ambition keeps him focused on building better technology and making it accessible for all.
