Deepak Ushadevi

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ciel and Terre - India

Bio

Deepak Ushadevi doesn't just talk about the future of energy; he built a piece of it, panel by panel, on water. As CEO & Managing Director of Ciel & Terre India, the global leader in floating photovoltaic (FPV) technology, he has turned India's reservoirs, dams, and industrial water bodies into a 650+ MWp clean energy frontier, the country's largest deployed FPV portfolio, spread across 13 live projects.

He secured India's first floating solar tender and personally led the deployment of the nation's first Hydrelio® FPV system at Cochin International Airport, a project that didn't just generate power; it ignited an entire industry. That single installation sparked nationwide FPV adoption, and Deepak has been at the centre of the sector's growth story ever since.

His path to floating solar was anything but conventional. As a core member of Applied Materials' SUNFAB team, he helped engineer the world's first Generation 8.5 thin-film solar panels in 2008, a breakthrough that reshaped the economics of solar manufacturing. Before that, he was part of the founding team that built Singapore's first 300mm semiconductor fabrication facility, working at the bleeding edge of precision engineering.

Across a 23-year career spanning Applied Materials, Tata Power Solar, and GlobalFoundries (India, USA, China, Germany, Singapore), Deepak has consistently been the person in the room who turns frontier technology into scaled, bankable reality. Today, he is one of the most sought-after voices in India's clean energy transition, equally at home discussing anchoring systems and mooring engineering as he is in unpacking policy, PSU partnerships, and GW-scale execution strategy.
