Bio
Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1999 batch, Odisha cadre. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Technology in Power Systems Engineering. He has extensive experience in public administration and governance, having served in several senior positions in the Government of Odisha, including Commissioner, Land Records and Settlement, and Special Secretary in the Planning and Convergence Department. He has also served on central deputation in the Cabinet Secretariat and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
He currently serves as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), which is responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of Odisha's state transmission network. His engineering background and administrative experience provide valuable expertise in transmission infrastructure planning, power system development and renewable energy integration. His leadership is particularly relevant to strengthening Odisha's intra-state transmission network and facilitating the evacuation of increasing renewable energy capacity.
