Information
The Wind Independent Power Producers Association is a national body representing wind developers and independent power producers operating across India. Constituted in 2013, WIPPA works collectively with government agencies, regulators and other stakeholders on matters affecting wind-energy development. Its members bring substantial operational experience in developing, financing and managing wind assets, while the association contributes industry views on policy formulation, regulatory changes and the conditions necessary for sustained investment in the sector.
WIPPA’s participation is important because wind will remain essential to building a balanced and resilient renewable-energy portfolio for India. Wind generation can complement daytime solar production, improve seasonal diversity and support hybrid and round-the-clock power configurations. Yet the sector must address challenges involving land, transmission, repowering, payment security, procurement and offshore development. WIPPA brings the voice of operating asset owners into these discussions, helping the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit connect national wind ambitions with the commercial and regulatory conditions required for their delivery.
