National Research Development Corporation

Information

Established by the Government of India in 1953, the National Research Development Corporation works to promote, develop and commercialise technologies originating from universities, public research institutions and national laboratories. Operating under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, NRDC provides technology-transfer services, intellectual-property support, technology valuation, validation, incubation and techno-commercial assistance. Its portfolio includes clean and emerging technologies such as solar-thermal systems, alkaline water electrolysers, electric agricultural equipment, environmental monitoring and other innovations capable of supporting a greener industrial economy.

NRDC’s relevance to the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit lies in the difficult space between scientific invention and commercial adoption. India’s laboratories and start-ups may create promising technologies, but these ideas must be validated, protected, financed, licensed and connected with industry before they can influence the energy transition. NRDC brings experience in navigating this journey from intellectual property to industrial application. Its participation can encourage stronger collaboration among researchers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and investors while helping indigenous clean-energy technologies move beyond prototypes towards scalable, market-ready solutions.
