The Long Duration Energy Storage Council is a global, technology-neutral organisation working to accelerate the deployment of energy-storage solutions capable of delivering electricity, heat or cooling for periods ranging from eight hours to several days, weeks or seasons. Bringing together more than 60 members from over 24 countries, the Council represents technologies spanning electrochemical, thermal, mechanical and chemical storage. Through research, case studies, policy advocacy and industry collaboration, it builds the evidence and market frameworks required to move long-duration storage from demonstration to commercial deployment.

The LDES Council matters to the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit because renewable capacity alone cannot guarantee round-the-clock clean energy. As solar and wind generation increase, India will need solutions that can shift large volumes of energy across hours and days, reduce curtailment, ease grid congestion and provide resilience during periods of low renewable generation. The Council brings global experience in technology deployment, market design, industrial decarbonisation and grid flexibility, enabling the Summit to address one of the most consequential questions of the transition: how renewable energy can become firm, reliable and available whenever it is needed.
