The Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy is a Bengaluru-based think tank that bridges the gap between scientific research, technological possibilities and public policy. Its energy and climate work uses modelling, systems analysis and scenario building to examine renewable-energy deployment, transmission infrastructure, energy storage, industrial decarbonisation, energy efficiency and long-term emissions pathways. By studying the connections among power, transport, industry, buildings, agriculture and the wider economy, CSTEP helps policymakers understand both the opportunities and the trade-offs involved in India’s transition.
CSTEP matters to the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit because India’s next phase of renewable-energy growth will require more than individual projects; it will require an integrated understanding of demand, generation, storage, transmission and industrial transformation. Its analytical capabilities can help the Summit translate broad national ambitions into technically credible pathways, identify system-level constraints and encourage decisions grounded in scientific evidence rather than isolated assumptions.
